Tire and lockring question
My lbs only stocks soma lock rings. How are these?
My lbs recommended some michelin tires or said for less I can get some irc, thoughts? Don't know the exact models. He said they were thinner 700c tires. Vague questions I know but thanks for the help. |

OP your lbs stinks. |
If they are michelin omniums I have one on my road bike right now, it seems decent I guess, though for a similar price continental makes an ultra sport tire that I've got on a front wheel and seems to be rocking. Your LBS seems to not be rocking, you should look into a new one.

More than $10 is too much for a lockring. Your tire question is too vague as michelin covers the spectrum from crap to race tires.

I don't know that more than 10 bucks is too much for a lockring; I paid 15 or 12 for my DA

soma lockrings have a little "extended thread tab", which may or may not fit all the way on your hub.
I got a milwaukee lockring (ben's cycle) for $8 plus shipping, for my no name track hubs, and the milwaukee ring fits better than the original (which was made from old kleenex or something) for a fixed gear tire choice, you just don't want anything super light, get tires with a nice thick tread portion, and as everybody said above, michelin makes so many tires, you'll just have to shop around. |
