130mm flip flop hub
 

so i've been working on my uber cheep beater "track" bike off an old raleigh frame, and the only snag i've run into is the rear hub, i need a 130mm flip flop hub, preferably 32hole, I have heard bad thing about the surly hub so would prefer to try somthin else (yes i know they work great for some of you blah blah w/e), and the nashbar one appears to be fixed/fixed, I also don't wanna deal with respacing a 120mm hub, by the time i get an axle and spacers, i might as well have put phil bearings in the surly or w/e. I've heard phil wood makes a great 130 flip flop hub, but i really don't wanna spend that much, so far i've spent about 70 bucks on this bike and all i need now is the rear wheel (i had alot of the parts lying around)

what's wrong with fixed/fixed? you can run a freewheel on the fixed side.

Axle replacement aint necessary. It's not like a quick release.

hmm hadn't really thought to put on a freewheel i guess that would work, but i think that iro hub might be just the ticket, only 5 bucks more than the nashbar, i hadn't realized they made on in a 130mm, unless some one tells me the iro ones are junk... but i can't imagine the nashbar one would be better

You are over-thinking this. They are all fine...Formula, Dimension, Surly, IRO, Soma, Ben's, Harris, etc. etc. Just buy one thats spaced to 130 or with an axle long enough to space it out to 130. All these hubs are equivalent quality, non-bling, perfectly functional hubs. A fixed-fixed flip flop gives you the most options, because you can run fg cogs or freewheels on either side.

You don't need a 130mm rear hub. Just get a normal 120mm rear hub and put some spacers on there. The axle is long enough. I have a Jamie Roy that has a rear dropout of 130mm. I bought Mavic rims with Formula hubs that are spaced at 120mm and slapped some spacers on there. No problem at all.
