Breaking Wind
This may sound funny, but I mean it seriously, does anyone have difficulty farting while riding fixed gear. I find I can't relax properly if I can't coast for a few seconds.

The worst is when you think it's a fart but it turns out to be something a little more than you bargained for.

Ah, yes, the sneak attack. The bikers real enemy.

i was actually just thinking about this this morning on my way to work. i'm considering building a fixed gear bike, but this morning when i had to fart i noticed i couldn't fart w/o stopping pedaling. which made me think twice about whether i really want a fixed gear bike. i still do, i'll just have to learn how to fart w/ my legs moving. good topic! dan |
Reminds me of the George Carlin bit, things you never see: Someone taking a sh*t while running at full speed.

..if I stand up, I can usually squeeze it out ;) but defintiely not sitting.. |
Just do a track stand at a stop sign and get that sucker out. Just be sure there aren't any cute girls in convertibles behind you and you're golden.

WARNING CONTENTS OF POST ARE MOVING
Nope, no problem with the farting for me. My problem tends to be getting that last meal out before heading off, if it all works out it's a great ride home from work. It it doesn't there is this attack, and I look like the kid out of That teen movie that can't go to the WC at school, and his buds feed him exlax. I've tossed the bike to the side when I hit the door at a dash for the sacred shrine, making it just in time. Of course this brought to mind the thought, what does LA do? I've heard pros ride and pee either in their shorts or, with the help of a friend, drop trou and aim off to the side of the road while pedalling. I can't imagine number two, and would the peoloton be chivarous if one had to pinch a loaf? |
Things you don't see on TV
Scarfing down 10,000 Cals. a day, this has to happen all the time. It reminds me of an story I read about Greg Lemond. It seems Greg wasn't feeling well during some race in Europe (I forget if it was the tour), he kept riding and well - let's just say it makes a great argument for fenders. I guess the peloton doesn't wait, at least for Greg Lemond.

as for pros needing to take a crap during a stage, for the most part it's not necessary. they train their bodies to evacuate at certain times of the day. |
I’m a vegan and a ragin’ drinker. I have no problems farting.

I find spinning the cranks helps to jiggle the farts out better.
