it's a great utility bike.
it is not quick.
it's very stable regardless of the speed ridden, but this translates into sluggish when you find yourself sprinting with or negotiating traffic.

to simplify: it is not a trackbike. what it is, though, is a workhorse with lots of fender and rack mounts, clearance for bigger tires (comes with 28mm) and fenders, etc.

check it out if you: want something sensible
do not check it out if you: want something that's quick and sporty

To the original poster; It's an excellent bike for commuting around town on. Do it if you enjoy function over form.

that's just about exactly what i would buy if i was getting a new bike for a campus ride or summertime/beach/bar bike.

These guys expressed sentiments that I'd agree with. It'd probably make a good commuter, definitely good if you want to haul stuff around in baskets or on racks, probably be awesome for cruising to the bar or beer store or having a relaxed/drunk ride, but it won't be a nimble speed machine. It's much closer to a townie than a track bike. And for a townie, you can just get an old road/touring frame for less money and throw some cruiser bars on it (or an old mountain frame. I just built a townie with an early- to mid-90s Raleigh mountain frame).

Between the Compact Geo/Sloping top tube, The Chain Guard, and the "BUMPER" to protect the frame when you lock it up... This bike seams like something that you would out grow-QUICK!
