Shoes designed for Toe Clips
 

Does anyone know of any shoes that are specifically designed to be ridden with toe-clips? I'm in the process of ruining another pair of shoes that are TOTALLY not designed to be ridden in toe-clips and I was wondering if there is a better option out there? I've heard Diadora makes some but I dunno where I can find them (I've googled them and nothing came up).

If anyone can help I'd hella appreciate it (and if they're Vegan [non-animal] so much the better!).

i remember someone saying they like the dvs milan for riding in toe clips, but i am pretty sure it isn't made specifically for toe clips. i personally like my skate shoes (etnies, es or whatever) because they are larger than my other shoes and fit in snug. they are also ultra durable.

i have pumas. i like them a lot. but they've discontinued the style. this makes me sad because now i'll have to actually SHOP for shoes pretty soon, and i hate that.

I occaisionally search ebay for vintage cycling stuff and have run across Puma's for toe clips several times.

i just got a pair of duegi keirin shoes (with slotted cleats!) on ebay for about $60 bucks a while ago... the seller still has plenty left...

I could never fit skate shoes into clips. stinkyonion I am impressed. I wear indoor soccer shoes(those guys are crazy) and they're pretty comparable to my shimano mtb shoes (thin soled though)

Ditto on that. I've finally found some Adidas indoor soccer shoes that

1) Fit easily into the clips
2) Feel comfortable
3) Last

Wow, I think I had some of those like 20 years ago. I tend to stick with Vans, though I've had to got w/other stuff w/snow on the ground.

And so it goes.

You can try to find them online perhaps but the North Face used to make a shoe called the X2, one of their very first shoe models. It was meant to be a trail runner but had a slim climbing shoe-like build which made it perfect for toe-clips. I used those on my MTB but since I never ride the MTB much anymore I don't. They have just the right amount of padding.

The other thing you may want to look for in a similar vein (aside from indoor soccer and slim skate shoes - both of which do the job well) are outdoor kind of shoes. Trail runners and the like. The kind you find at REI or Uncle Dan's but which are slimmer. Again, similar in build to climbing shoes.

Another thing: I know you have bike shoes DV, so why don't you use those? Sans cleats? I've seen people ride in bike shoes in toe clips.

Adidas Samba. Stiff sole, easy to get in and out of clips, grippy, and they last.

I really didn't expect this many replies so soon!

Currently I'm riding with some canvas shoes (Ben Sherman Comptons) and they seem to be wearing down pretty quickly. The Comptons are very much like Sambas only they are canvas, so the canvas is discoloring and getting wrecked (worn away) pretty quickly. I mean I paid $50 for them and I don't wanna kill them instantly. On the other hand, they're doing what they are supposed to do right? Maybe I'm being a dumbass.

I'm actually thinking about just buying leather shoes since they seem to hold up a lot better (the thrift store leather shoes I have held up for 9+ months while my canvas are currently at 3 months). Mebbe I'll make a sacrifice and buy leather shoes...

As for my Diadoras Naz, I have tried them in my toeclips and they weren't comfy, plus I don't want to walk around in snug cycling shoes all day...

Sidi and Carnac used to make good touring shoes, some of them in synthetic Lorica.

I agree with Stickerguy: indoor soccer shoes are great. They are super tough, even if thin-souled.

I went the el-cheapo route. I use $15.00 shoes with the brand name Court Classic that I got from Costco. They're leather and they've held up fine so far with over 1000 miles on them. I use cheap plastic MTB clips.

I think I'm just gonna get a pair of Reebok Nylon/Leather blend shoes. My last pair of those held up for like nine months solid, so FK it, I'm just gonna go with the economical route...

kmart $8 slipons!!!

i have used them on my fixie a few times. they just look like vans slipon knockoffs.
