Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I'm pretty happy with my Dimensions, they're inexpensive and they've held up really well too

my soma doubles are going pretty strong after four months. i have them on gr-9s and they are ripping a tiny bit where i have them on the underside of the pedal. i think i am just going to get toshis before these split at a crucial time.

tighter/looser = changing holes, so it would be hard to tighten them once you're [edit] on. I keep them just as tight as I can safely get out and that leaves me no prob getting into them - i think the extra stiffness makes them easier to jump in.

Just buy a set of doublers from Cadence, make your own, or buy the real deal. You got plenty of options.

I'd say get the $40 Soma doubles. They're what I have, and they work great. Mine, however, are the "old" ones, which are made from one piece of leather. The "new" ones are laminated: 1 layer of leather, 1 layer of plastic, 1 more layer of leather. Some people have had problems with these layers de-laminating.

Oh, and I've had mine for about a year with no problems.
