so i like the retention that double straps provide, but $100+? come on. i already paid like $90 for my rx-1s and i'd rather have doubles than singles, but i can't spend that much for leather doubles (which i know are very nice). are there any reputable synthetic doubles or something out there? i personally haven't found any. thanks

running two singles with a doublizer is pretty cheap. i made mine out of an old 20" inner tube and they work fine. other than that soma has some. cant speak to quality though

Yeah, rx1's only have real strap retainers for one strap each.

my GR9's really arent designed for doubles, but they work fine. the dimension doubles are great. i wish the ends werent as long as they are, though!

point taken. unfortunately, i took haste in spending all my extra funds on other components and am now broke. maybe i'll just wait then. i've become well versed in riding on the platforms anyway.

i hate to be that guy but dont get anything but toshis or mks as far double straps. or something more expensive. iv never heard anything good from people who buy 40 or 50 dollar doubles after a couple months of use. especially somas which stretch after every skid and break 2 months later. they are the least durable of the bunch. toshis or mks will last you a year or more pretty much garenteed and they feel a thousand times more stable, stiff, and grippy. and if you calculate that out its worth the money. by far.

doubles work fine on RX-1's. I posted pictures in a thread somewhere, sometime.

I am singles kind of guy lately though. I might find myself back in doubles territory when warmer weather means thinner shoes and less foot support/protection.

i've heard rumors from 2 different bike shop people that EAI is coming out with a mid-priced double strap sometime within the next 6 months. i have no idea if its true. they're supposed to be modeled after kashimax doubles (top of the line), with similar materials, and sold for half the price. i'm just crossing my fingers its true, and biding my time with ****ty singles until then.

Don't buy the Soma straps. They are terrible due to stretching, ripping, delamming (synthetic pairs) and just being poor quality. And yes, this is coming from personal experience.

go to a leathercraft store and make some little belts for yourself. tiny brass belt buckles and thicker leather = the end of the whole strap question. You could also dig up my trade post and make a deal with me, but honestly i'm sick of making them and just want to inform people. i guess you could doubler them if you wanted.

toshi is worth it, if you can't drop the cash their singles are going to be better than any other cheap double you can get
