Why? I need your input

I am super cautious about my belongings and really love to take care of them. I just got a new road bike Bianchi Fremont and there are some small scratches on it (dropout and small small others) for some reason i just look at them and get mad and just really get irritated, i really want to be the type of person that doesn't obsess over how pretty it is as long as it functions and rides well, i need your input and some encouraging words to help me get over this. Thanks guys.

Easy.....

Accept the inevitable and realize that your bike is going to get scratched and dinged, or seal it in a nitrogen filled glass display case from a museum and never ride it again. Doesn't sound like much fun, does it?

Scratches and nicks are simply character and make it YOUR bike.http://www.comicguide.net/images/smilies/biker1.gif

Honestly, just ride a lot more. Eventually here will be a lot of scratches on your bike, and you just will stop caring. I was pissed when my friend knocked over my bike and it scratched the top tube, now I really don't give a **** at all.

Time, I guess.

bikes are meant to be ridden, not preserved in a show room. ride your bike and have fun. if you want to preserve the newness of your bike, take a lot of pictures and store them on your computer so you can look at it whenever you want, and then you can go look and your scratched and worn bike and take satisfaction in knowing you ride hard

Hit it with a chain to break it in. Then you wont notice ANY small scratches.

once you take your first slam trying to knee over bar skid or get stuck in your pedal and fall you won't care anymore

tx_what_it_do 05-06-08 12:24 AM

you'll baby it for a while but you'll accept scratches. if you care a whole lot then get lil touchup paints from autozone... dunno if those work or not...

wait no no touchup just ride it.

Do the Bikesnob method... go throw your bike down a set of stairs, pick it up at the bottom, straighten out the handlebars, get on and ride.

I played footdown for 2 hours after a few beers the second day I built up my latest bike. I have no worry of scratches anymore :)

bikes are meant to be ridden not housed in a museum, scratches and yes even dings happen.
