conversion project advice
 

fellow fixies:
i'd like to convert my Lemond Poprad cyclocross to a fixie. Because of vertical dropouts i'd like to use a White Industries ENO hub and have a new rear wheel built.
1.Any thoughts or people with experience on this hub?
I'm also not sure what size tires would be good....I'm planning to stay on paved roads 90% of the time, but the roads can be a mess at times. Considering 28c, but .....
2.am eager to hear opinions.
3.Also, does anyone use a suspension seat post to dampen the occasional slam when a big pot hole can't be avoided?

Everything I've heard about the ENO hub says it rocks. I haven't tried one though I'd like to. I guess that doesn't really help you out.
But instead of a suspension seat post I got a Brooks Champion Flyer. It's a B-17 with springs. It's heavy as a cow but oh so smooth and happens to look the part on my fixie. The main advantage to sprung seats over suspension seatposts is that a sprung seat will never wear out (short of breaking a spring, and you can get replacments for cheap) and a suspension seatpost will wear and then wear out. Oh, and lastly, suspension seatposts are ugly and sprung seats are super sexy! To me anyway. :)

I used an ENO to build up a SS/fixie for my wife, it is a great hub. Smooth bearings, nice finish and it works! I recommend it with no reservations. Besides you don't want a clunky chain tensioner. they are too fussy.
