Is there anyway to make it red? I don't know anything about this stuff. It'd be really cool if it blinked red.

GTPowers 05-15-08 09:53 PM

Just picked up 5ft with a AAA inverter. Going to try and do something with my bags.

OP what kind of adhesive did you use/how did you get that sucker on ther'?

5ft of what ? EL wire ?

Please feel free to use my name, 'OP what kind of . . ' makes you sound like an arresting officer ! :)

The sheet overlaps itself slightly as it wraps around the post (by 10mm or so) and where the two layers overlap I used double sided tape - this means I can take the post out of the frame and slide the light on and off if I want.

jet sanchEz 05-16-08 02:16 PM

let's see your bag.

Can you get it to blink? That would be really useful.

What is the total cost for this? Under $20?

Thanks, it is a fun thing to do, I'd like to give it a shot sometime myself. Maybe part of my toptube or the seat-stays...

Very tough, you can get it as a tape:

Someone please put the inverter on the hub of their wheel and EL the hell out of the spokes and rims. Then take pictures and post here.

JBD 05-16-08 09:56 PM

Hub dynamo!

nateintokyo 05-16-08 11:41 PM

wow, this is incredibly dorky. very well done!!

is there a way you could rig it to be pedal-powered??? now that would be something!

MIN 05-17-08 12:14 AM

electroluminencent deep-v stickers next.

ryansexton 05-17-08 12:16 AM

It looks like you have a laser in your ******* when you ride, *******.

mugatu 05-17-08 12:19 AM

If you hooked it up to a ye olde style power generator on the wheel you wouldn't need the inverter. It would be the perfect juxtaposition of old tech and new tech

sp00ki 05-17-08 07:30 AM

big fat ups. i'm making one.
