A 100 mile MTB race was held at Tahoe recently. An acquaintance I skied with last year completed the race on less than 8 hours on a single speed!

SSs doing well in the overall in 24hour or marathon XC MTB events is nothing new. Part of doing well in these events is limiting mechanical issues and if the course is right (i.e. not alot of major downhills) a SS is the way to go, especially a 29'er SS. I've raced multiple 24hour and endurance events on a SS. A good friend of mine races exclusively on a SS now and is usually in the top 10 overall and has podiumed a handfull of times over the past 2 seasons.
