Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Looking to go Single Speed

So im looking to go SS, and was wondering what you guys think of the Redline Monocog Flight 29'er? If you guys have any other brands that I should look at too, please let me know.

Thank you,
David

I, for one, think the Monocog 29 is a work of art. Being a single-speed...it's a masterpiece.
But then I love bikes.

If you're looking to ride single speed on the street and trails I'd recommend an IRO Rob Roy.

Awesome bike. The Flite model is even better.

A monocog is a great deal. I've had one for three years now. Its intended for trail use and works well for that. Theres no point in spending more for a singlespeed bike used primarily on dirt trails. I also use it for commuting in extreme weather too (snow, ice, etc.). Its geared too low for normal street riding, unless your wife is slow. Mine is

I got a monocog ss '26er' and think its a fine bike. I'm sure the 29er is even better.
