Dilema need your help

so i went to put a chain on my Nishiki project, and it seems like the rear cog (came with the wheelset) won't align/lign up with the chain, but the front chainring (original from the bike) works fine. Is this just a different type of rear cog? Is there any way to use it still while still using the front chain ring i have on it? If not what cog am i looking for? Thanks

is there maybe a 1/8'' cog and the front chain ring is meant for 3/32'' and the chain is a 3/32''? Anyone?

are you trying to use the chain that came with the nishiki? when I converted my road bike i had to get a different chain. I think getting a new chain is probably cheaper than getting a new cog; in my case it was

just get a 1/8" (bmx) chain. marginally cheaper than a cog but you wont have to deal with finding a 3/32" cog (not all shops have them) and getting it swapped over

my shop has them, because they put a surly one on my ss. so i think tomorrow if im not still trippin, ill go there and see how to fix things.
