San Marcos Rolls Saddle

does any one know if this is leather or not?

Jabba Degrassi 05-30-08 08:36 AM

The black one is definitely leather, I think the white one came in a synthetic material at some point, but the ones they just got at thebikebiz are leather as well, so I'm guessing that means it's leather all around from now on.

Do you know of any white saddles like the san marcos that are not leather?

peabodypride 05-30-08 08:42 AM

I think the white is synthetic. I have one.

jdms mvp 05-30-08 08:50 AM

i have a white one as well...i was under the assumption it was leather....i'll try and find the box lol

peabodypride 05-30-08 08:52 AM

The box is very plain and has no information if yours was like mine (generic san marco black/white one).

Jabba Degrassi 05-30-08 09:03 AM

Some online sites list the white one as some sort of synthetic, the name of which escapes me at the moment. But I e-mailed thebikebiz and they told me it is leather. Since they just got them in, I'm assuming some of the older versions were synth, but the new stock is leather.

Just a guess.

The white ones nowadays are indeed leather.

The Soma saddles are not leather and have a white version, but good luck finding one. Go to your bike shop and dig around in the take-off bin, you might find a white one as well.

(Avoiding being too trendy is easy, because all the trendiest things are always harder to find. It's almost as if the universe is trying to prevent people from being trend*****s.)

It always rights itself in the end. I still remember the day I started seeing Von Dutch hats in convenience stores for $5.

Oh what a glorious day that was indeed.......

Staying ahead of trend curves is always impossible because you never know where the curve is going to go. It's kind of like surfing. You can't let the wave pass you, nor can you get too far ahead of the wave, otherwise you lose all momentum.

Fashion is tiring and stressful. Q.E.D., Hipster mullets are outward signs of fashion-based Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

To quote Abe Simpson, "I used to be 'with it', but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm 'with' isn't 'it', and what's 'it' seems weird and scary."

Jabba Degrassi 05-30-08 09:47 AM

Mostly I just do whatever the hell I feel like. Whenever that happens to line up with a trend, I have a tendency to start groaning a lot and doing something else for a while.

drainyoo 05-30-08 09:56 AM

Nothing wrong with trends or fashion. People like different things. Get off your high horse.

Jabba Degrassi 05-30-08 10:04 AM

No, horses are in this season.

drainyoo 05-30-08 10:21 AM

Oh really? I'm getting one then!

Jabba Degrassi 05-30-08 10:25 AM

*grooooooooooooooan*

peabodypride 05-30-08 10:26 AM

On a side note, can anyone give me tips on cleaning a white rolls? I have some deep jean stains and orange marks on it... I easily got off most of the jean stains but some of it is just really deep in there. Anyone have any tips to get it as white as new?

Jabba Degrassi 05-30-08 10:26 AM

jpdesjar 05-30-08 10:59 AM

If cool must be maintained at peak performance, get some chrome knickers.

Your other option is to lose major points and use a non-white saddle. Oh, what a dreadful day it will be.

simple green cleans a white saddle up again.
