Is a 62cm frame too large

for a 6 foot (plus a fraction) long legged man? I've checked all the calculation sites and what not, but im not looking for anything exact. I'm just making sure the frame a friend gave me isn't too big for me.

It all depends on the geometry of the frame, especially the top tube. For example, I have frames which are 57, 58, 59, 60, and 62cm which all fit me. No one on the internet can say for certain if the frame fits you or not.

It could be on the large side, and inseam would help though.

my IRO is a 62cm and its fine. they size them a little small. i'm 6' and my legs are average. so, since its a great deal, i think you might be fine. what brand frame?

nateintokyo 05-31-08 08:42 AM

if you already have the frame, why not check?

Take it for a spin. Only YOU can tell us if it will fit your body, specially since we have no measurements to go by.

its just a frame, i ordered some of the parts, but I can't take it for a spin yet. i was just wondering if it was ridiculous for me to think i could ride a 62 cm frame. I get the idea tho. thanks to everyone who posted.

I'm 6'5" and ride a 62 that is almost too large. You should really try riding it.

johnnytheboy 06-01-08 12:43 PM

i'm 6'2" and my cannondale road bike is a 56 and my kilo tt is a 60.
they both feel fine.

Im 6'2" (34.5in. inseam) and have an XL (61cm) Litespeed Teramo that is too big (I feel too stretched out). Im placing an order for a 59cm IRO Mark V. I really hope thats the right size.

my inseam is 34.5 as well. I understand the stretched out part, but it was ridable?

oh ya totally rideable. Just not perfect for me.

mmerner 06-01-08 07:59 PM

yes it is too big.

ryansexton 06-01-08 09:56 PM

I ride a 57 and a 59, I tried the a 61 and 63 and they were only slightly too big for me. It all depends on the purpose too. My fixed gear is 57 because I like a smaller, whippier bike. My touring bike is 59 because its what fits me perfect.
