KHS Where are they from?
Kind of a off the cuff question. I am looking at getting a KHS Flite 100 and was wondering what country this company is based out of. Not that it matters, I just find it interesting to know. I know that the bike frames are all made over sea's (taiwan, china, indonesia, east bufu, etc.) But Bianchi is of course Italian, Raleigh English, Fuji Japanese?(I am guessing), but there is nothing about KHS that would help me figure them out.
Thanks for full filling my odd fact trivia. |
"KHS Bicycles Inc. was founded in 1974 as an American-based company distributing the KHS brand of bicycles. Its mission is to design, manufacture and distribute moderately priced and high quality bicycles and accessories. Since that time KHS has grown into a brand respected for quality, value, and integrity with distribution in more than 30 countries around the world."

they're basically in long beach, cali.
(some of the) frames are made across the big pond though. |
Taiwan, most likeley for the flite 100
at least that is where kilos come from |
Yes, you may save money if you were to get a Kilo TT (same frame as Flite 100) from BikesDirect, however, they've been backordered for a while now.
|
I have a KHS Comp ST (2005). Taiwan - this bike is excellent I rode it for two years and then gave it to my 15 year old son and he has been pounding on it for a year. It is still in excellent condition which is amazing because he dishes out a lot of punishment to that poor bike.

i don't think the kilo and the flite 100 are all the same frame, i think some years they are and some years they aren't.
taiwanese frames can be a ****ing awesome value. |

Alot of bike frames are made in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Lots of North American made Cannondales, Rivendells, Rockie Mountains, Cervelos, Orbea, and others made other than in Asia. |
Well, when I said that, I was thinking more along the lines of the Bianchi Pista, or the Fuji Track and so forth. I realize that Cannondales are made in the US, hell its stamped on almost all of them somewhere quite visible it seems.
Perhaps this is a political statement, to get more Americans to buy US. Who knows? I am not trying to spark a debate. This was merely a thought. |
