Multiple Top Tube Pads?
1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone. Came across this guy's bike on velospace while google-ing a search for gr-9 pedals using powergrips... anyways, as you guys can see, this guy's using three top tube pads to cover his bike. Whether for asthetic reasons or to protect the frame, I like the look of it on this bike. I don't think I'd ever do it to one of my bikes, for fear of being ridiculed at, but was wondering what you guys think.
Note: I do use a top tube pad to protect my Nishiki from further cosmetic damage as I lock and unlock it often throughout the day. One pad seems sufficient and is very convenient. In my opinion a top tube pad is a nice addition to a bike for both purpose and looks. |
i guess, if playing in the mcdonald's playplace is still fun for you.

clown bike.
|
Lol... I actually was reminded of Ronald Mc Donald when I saw this bike... Or of some sort of candyshop...
|
Shants... somebody is making fun of your bike 3 years after the fact.
|

Looks like one of those Benetton VW Golfs from the 90s. The ones where each body panel is a different color.

bike forums has finally reached nightmarish levels of self-referentiality in post-modernity, the snake has consumed itself. jesus. this is so old it gives me a headache.

One top tube pad is bad enough.
|
He sold that frame set a long time ago. I own the Stem infact.
It was more or less a joke... |
ahhhh shants.... creator of the original joke bike.
|
instead of three pads i would just knit a big sweater for it. like a cosby sweater. it will be just as warm, if not warmer.

Leave it naked, scratches give your bike character and soul.

I use the same bar tape on my top tube as I use on my handlebars.
I tape the aft half of the top tube, from a little forward of the middle of my top tube to the nose of my saddle, which comes to about nine inches of coverage. I don't do it so much to protect my top tube as to keep the bike from sliding when I lean it up against something, but the tape does protect the top tube. When the tape gets all chewed up (and it does) I replace it with new tape. It works. |
i is thrice as cool as you cuz i haz three TT pads

there should be an alley cat where you need to eat a primanti bros sandwich while racing thru the strip district on a sunny summer saturday afternoon. talk about broken bones and greasy shirts!
|
always thought TT protectors were ghey. its like a bra on the front of a car. if you put it on yeah it protects your paint but if its always on nobody can see your perfect paint AND it looks hideous
