What other steel threaded forks could we use? Just the Soma? Also, can we use the older type Pista forks? The older ones were threaded but don't know how long ago they went threadless. If this is possible, where should I go about looking for an old threaded Pista fork? I'm looking looking for a used Pista frameset with a threaded fork but don't think i'll have much luck.

IMO it would look awkward. Yea, quills are nice, on a bike with a 1" steer tube, but on a 1 1/8" you are going to have a skinny stem going into a fat steer tube.

Get a sexy threadless stem like the Thomson Elite and forget about the qull.

a bianchi pista has a 1" steerer tube, it's 1" threadless stock.

i have a quill stem on my bike. it sucks. it's hard to change bars and when you do you have to untape em or take the grips off. also, depending on the bars, it's hard to get all the bends through the stem.

if you really want a quill, sell your current bike and get a kilo tt or something...
This says it.

Given its costs, I don't understand why you'd honestly want to pursue this just for a look.

Which fork did you end up buying? And where?

So, I'm guessing you live in Williamsburg right? Just go down to that shop on Grand and Berry and ask the guy for his cheapest 1" threaded steel fork. They're like 60$ and heavy as hell but I am sure it will look bomber.

I was thinking of going with a powdercoat finish if I ended up getting a Pista frame. Just it seems like so much work to find a threaded fork.

new pista w a quill ?

imo if i had to do it again i wouldnt. the quill stems flex comparably more than a threadless set up. and my whole investment in doing it wasnt cheap. for refernce the front set up cost as much as a bikesdirect bike.

and imo the bikeworksnyc fork is faily low quality and needs a lot of prep work before installed, and bikecult has horrible customer service.

Problem #1 is finding a fork with 28mm rake. When I was looking into getting a straight blade fork Spicer was the only one offering the low rake version, and it was threaded, which is a non starter for me (I rode threaded for many years and I will not go back!).
