I'm a "interior horticulture tech." which means I water houseplants professionally. I have a mount to hold the watering can on my work bike. I get to play with plants and ride around Boston and Cambridge all day. I get a kick out of watering 30 foot palm trees in the snow.

I design airfield lighting and navigation systems at international and regional airports. Decoding FAA regulations ranks slightly above getting your fingernails pulled out with pliers and slightly below burning your tongue severely on hot coco. But I get to visit many secure and secret places at airports in the Northeast US and the aerial pictures of the finished products are pretty neat:

ts sad that when asked what people do, almost everyone answers with their JOB! i ride bikes and train brazilian jiu jitsu
I blog here. That's what I effing do!
I got "here" (to what I do) by chance, as we all do a little bit, I'm sure. I majored in Spanish (B.A., 1999) then moved to Costa Rica for 4 years where I worked as a bookie in one of the world's largest sportsbooks (my ex-boss is locked up in a Federal Penitentary near St. Louis somewhere) (and yes, I'm working on a memoir). After that, I applied to MFA programs and was accepted. Now I teach.

I work at a marketing research/consulting firm as a research associate and in-house IT guy. How I got here? A BS in psychology and not wanting to go to grad school immediately. It's not a bad gig by any means, but at some point in the future I will likely return to school and pursue something more creative and more in-line with my hobbies (which include painting and photography).

The hopeful news is this: recently I got to thinking: What do I love? Not like, not tolerate, but really love? Well sh*t, that's easy: bikes! So I sent a resume to a local bike manufacturer and scored an interview. I go back Wednesday for a follow-up interview! Next month I will be designing bikes. Eff you airports! Wish me luck y'all.

I currently work tech support at a semi-major wireless phone company that was just bought out by a very-major wireless phone company. I hate my job, but it pays well. I'll be quitting this in a month to go work at a Shipyard working on heavy equipment as an apprentice. When I'm not working, I work on my car, race my car, shoot things with a firearm, and ride my bike.

I am Painter in Brooklyn, but I am from Echo Park in Los Angeles. If anyone want to come to a group show in July, I will have a piece there. Here is a preview: https://dfngallery.com/exhibitions/redefining_women.htm and here is some work: https://www.dfngallery.com/artists/wo...fael_perez.htm . I also do various freelance stuff to make ends meet...

I am a Naval Architect. I currently work in the R & D department of a defense contractor working on concepts for future Navy ships. Saying it like that makes it seem interesting but the military industrial complex is pretty awful so I will be moving on shortly. (First job out of college) I am also working on my masters in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. I bike commute to work and school. On weekends I volunteer at a free community bike shop called Plan B. While my job does take up a lot of my time, I try not to let it define me.
