high vs low flange hubs

i've heard nothing but great things about phil wood hubs. i'm planning on building new wheels. what is the difference between the high and low flange hubs?

supposedly more "strength" when your tarcking (ie, the length of a spoke is shorter from a phil high flange hub to a deep v rim and therefore it is stronger)

high flange look cool, but not necessarily cooler. they also add negligible lateral strength to your wheel. they also add negligible weight. the above posts essentially cover it... the difference is negligible. go with what you like best.

I've been into those black Phil low flanges lately...

On a high flange hub, you probably don't have to remove the cog to replace a spoke.

With modern spokes and hubs, only aesthetics.

Phil makes a great High/low flange rear hub. Now that is the best of both worlds.
