People having fun doing things that involve bikes.
OH GOD THAT IS SO NOT OK
If someone in your community wants to start something positive like this, are you really gonna be the ******bag that would say no because 'omg fix gear apocalypse'.

thats from my town. unfortunately that video frames everyone as hipsters and the music makes you wanna assault everyone. but i will tell you that guy who's talking in it is a pretty nice guy. a few months back he saw me riding with my wife and pulled his car over to invite us to an event. i'd say that was decent. but that music makes me wanna kill.

there are people i saw in that vid who do not fit that description. its not their fault somebody made this video with the zoom-in-on-tattoos-affect and lame music background. i understand the hatred, but understand, maybe you might have been in this thing just because you were there. somebody could be calling you a hipster, too.

I know the guy is probably cool and being there would probably be sort of fun, but still, it's just so painfully stereotypical and lame. It just seems like they all fit into their own designated hipster characters and profiles. and that girl that got hit by a taxi. JESUS CHRIST MONKEY BALLS she got hit by a car??? The way she emphasized it just sort of peeved me.
Like, seriously, call me a hater, but I just can't handle these kids thinking they're the hottest **** around. Like I see the merit in actually going out and doing something in the community that will publicize the trend, but for god's sake do it with a little taste.

Aaron seems like a nice guy, but he really is overly infatuated with anything that is "cool." He only got into the whole cycling/fixed gear thing very recently, and immediately he is writing some book about it. But I guess that's ok...the only thing that really bugs me about this video is how everyone says the dumbest, most pointless things. Like that girl who got by a car - "I got hit by a car...it was a cab...it was the only cab on the whole block." Wow, great story, thanks for sharing. Getting hit by a car doesn't make you cool or give you street cred. It probably means you're an incompetent cyclist. One car on the whole block and you couldn't avoid it?

Yeah we are really silly, just look at the way we dress, act, live, and gold plate our bikes, idiots.
EDIT: Also, we make videos about it. Books too.

perhaps i only like this because i know most of the people in it, but i find it kind of ironic that everyone here is talking **** about a book with pictures of bikes, when that seems to be this forum's bread and butter. and does it seriously bother everyone that much that people who ride fixed gears dress "fashionably"? ive never encountered a group of people so concerned with what others are wearing. because that's really the only basis for criticism you have here.
