a while ago i saw a lemond zurich 853 1999 on campus with white frame and red stripe with white letters "lemond" that's being converted to a fg. I really like the way it looks and its geometry.

However, I've been searching online for a while, couldn't really find much on this frame (all i can find were the newer frames around 2002 to 2006). so i was wondering if anybody had this frame and what they think of it and where i can find them for sale (and hoping the price is reasonable).

I know they are Reynolds 853 steel. I know they are one of Lemonds top sellers and have been since the late 90's. I rode a Maillot Jaune (the next model up) awhile back and thought it was great.

as far as where to get one......jeeez.....call bike shops in your area to see if they happen to carry any used lemonds. You might want to expand your search to include other model years too. I'm pretty sure the geometry stayed close to the same until 03ish.

I have a 99 Zurich and love it. I'm not sure how it would ride as a FG. Lemonds are very slack. If you're looking for something to put a ton of miles on it would be great...just don't expect a snappy track bike feel. Honestly though, the idea of stripping down a Zurich for a conversion makes me a little sad...and I own two fixies.
