OK.. I change my hood from Baltimore to Lothian, Maryland... then Alexandria, Virginia... for which I might as well say Washington DC since I was born in Greater Southeast General Hospital... but then I lived in Waldorf, MD... then San Francisco for a short time... now I actually own a house in Baltimore City, MD... so... maybe where you Pay Taxes should be your hood?

City is fun. Around the harbor, thru fells, canton, federal hill, etc is casual and enjoyable. When you start venturing back uptown, the hills and stoplights get to you... but its worth it. I've never ridden in Towson... seems boring.

OH: Just a story I head too...
Under no circumstances do you ever allow anyone to talk you into "Yo... lemme try to ride yo bike son..."... It's funny trying to see the idiots try to ride a fixed gear bike but its almost depressing watching them try to steal one from you. They pedal fast to get away then try to coast and arent clipped in or in the straps and they just lift their legs and try to avoid running into a car or a curb, then they just jump off the bike and ghostride it into a group of pedestrians and then you go to recover it and all the pedestrians are mad at you LOL.

Isnt that up heading towards San Anselmo? Isnt that where Mountain Biking was created?? I had a friend who lived there and worked at Infineon Raceway.

That reminds me of a story my mom's co-worker told me. His son is a messenger in philly (rides a no brake fg), and he went on a trip to seattle with some friends. He had his bike on the back of his car, went in to a store to grab something, then when he came out he noticed his bike was stolen. He starts flipping out, then he notices the guy riding away down the block, just sprinting. He just sat back and watched calmly as the guy realized he can't stop pedaling, and lacks brakes.. needless to say, he wiped out hard before he got to the intersection, then ran away

Towson's no good: suburban drivers are worse than inner-city ones. I end up riding out to Parkville for work, but if I'm looking for a "nice ride," I head for the country.

Anyway, you should know by now that there's some areas you shouldn't be biking in at night, and a couple that you should just never be biking in. If you stay away from those it can be a pretty fun city to ride in, if you don't mind people hollering at you every once and a while.
