1950's fixie project

Before I get the frame re-sprayed shall I angle grind the Pump holder lugs and cable guides for the back derraillier etc. Dunno if to keep it original or clean it up.

Keep it original. May decide to sell it someday and it'll be worth more if it isn't altered.

Thanks man.

Thanks man, appreciate the advice. In terms of bottom bracket and crank shall i replace them completely or restore? They are in amazing order considering the age. I was going to keep as much as I could original. The bars and head set are Gerry Burgess and the brakes are weinerman so they can stay. It will be a daily ride though.

Old stuff lasts and lasts if properly maintained. I'd get some new ball bearings and repack that BB. Harriscyclery.net has good ones for not much money. Cottered cranks are heavy, though.

For the brakes, definitely get new cables and housing. Kool-stop makes some really nice brake pads that'll fit the old calipers and improve braking.

I suggest you move this over to the Classic and Vintage forum. They've got worlds of advice on older bikes. You will have to post pics; they love bike pr0n.
