Show me some classy bikes
I was hoping to start of pic thread focusing on simple, elegant, and classy bikes. I'll get it started, these bikes aren't the nicest out there but theyre pretty classy i thinkhttp://www.ephka.com/nag/nag1.jpg

the first bike is gross
and the second bike is cageless? guchi's are nice though. i can promise you that the majority of people who are about to chime in, do not think that deep Vs are classy |
I think the first bike is pretty good looking. No gaudy stickers or accessories, just a simple good looking color scheme...although I agree he may have gone a bit far with color coordination... I agree that deep-v's arent always the classiest, but on the right bike they can be perfect. anyway heres a few more:

For God's sake. "Classy" does not equal Deep V's, a gimmicky white Mickey Mouse chain, or an old school Bianchi road bike that has been neutered into some goofball, MASH-wannabe, freestyle thing. Also, the inclusion of the color "brown" does not equate to classy.

Personally, I find most of these pretty hokey-looking. The Schwinn Paramount's pretty nice. The others just seem to have really inconsistent looks to them - a mishmash of parts thrown together. As an exmple, the last one (blue frame) is not bad, but the yellow rubber and straight fork throw it off. Classy to me means that all the parts are in sync with each other.
Just my opinion, but I have a definite bias toward classic road bikes. :) edit: by "the last one", I meant not the de Rosa but the no-name blue framed one above. |

guys, obviously everyone has their own opinions and not every bike is for every one...i just wanna see some clean, simple bikes with simple, nice looking color schemes and no tacky add-ons/stickers/unnecessary crap
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...e/P1010691.jpg and if the bikes i posted dont fit your definition of "classy", show me what does |
top tube pads ≠ classy....
i think people are having a problem with your thread because you used the term classy and elegant. many of the bikes u've posted fall under the category of "i like these bikes because they have fun colors and are not over the top by my standards" |
ftw!
btw, tubular tire tape is supposed to go on the inside of the rims, not in a couple of little bands on the outside. |

that's an original everest chain, and apparently top of the line =\ |
to me, "classy," "high class," means the most elegant of forms following the most pragmatic function. Top tubes, deep Vs, colored chains, no brake(s), racing saddle, all these things are addons or subtractions that compromise functionality for aesthetic value, i.e. not classy.
that being said, i think Mike from A.N.T. makes the classiest bikes. Loooooook...... http://www.flickr.com/photos/antbike...7605299550188/ |

btw, that wasn't tubular tape...those wheels were wooden and (someone can correct me if i'm wrong) but they were taped because those types of rim/tires are used for grass tracks

Am I alone on this one, or do most of the people you know who focus too much on how "classy" something tend to be the people with the least class?
Same for people obsessed with "respect" who show absolutely none, and people who are constantly referring to things as "legitimate" who are constantly pulling shifty ****. |
+1

this isn't a "discuss the in's and out's of the word 'classy' thread"
all i wanted to see is some pictures of nice looking, not over the top bikes, is that so ****ing hard this is a picture thread. if youre not here to post pictures of bikes that you think are "classy", whatever that word might mean to you, then close the window because this isnt the thread for you http://velospace.org/files/012342123k.jpg http://boxwood.subtle.org/se/albums/...at01.sized.jpg |
you are losing this argument, abigscarybear. you are also outing yourself as the resident dumb guy.
|
You're definitely posting 'classy' bikes.
Low class. Nouveau riche. Mildly tacky. It's like luck, you can be extremely lucky... but it's all bad luck. :) |
