I've got a NOS Tange Levin headset coming as well as an aluminum seat clamp. Friday will order the Sugino crankset & all of the blac (except saddle, wheelset & bar tape) will be gone!

I just placed my order for one.

But after some consideration, I might want to change the size. Is there a number for customer service? Or just that email address?

Is his handle just "Mike?" Or is he the "Bikedirectcom" handle?

Lookin' good Patrick!

I originally wanted to go flat black. I'm looking for a lugged frame now to build up.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I didn't think splash tape was particularly tarcky, though it's surely obnoxious.

Why won't these kids decide what's cool and leave it be long enough for me to figure it out?[/]

I have to admit, the more I look at bikes, the more I get an urge for a vintage, undrilled, lugged track frame.

I have that same urge, especially after looking at Vanilla bikes (specifically this one)

For now though, my next bike project is going to be a vintage-esque paint scheme..probably brown/orange/light blue or something. That'll get me closer to a vintage track bike haha

OMG, that vanilla bike is hotness. Checking pricing...

Meanwhile

Tange Levin headset is much more sleek than the stock Chinhaur.
Sugino RD2L polished are a nice compliment, waiting for the chain ring.
Bought a set of aluminum bars, waiting for delivery.
So far, the bike has lost 2 lbs with just those parts, I expect another few ounces with the aluminum drops.

Do the FSA Vero really weigh that much? I'm sure the stock headset can't weigh that much either.

Actually, the seat post, headset, crankset & stem felt heavier in hand than their replacements.

The Motobecane Messenger is the same as the Hour? I never knew that. Cause if they are the same, I will buy the Motobecane Messenger.

I am 5'11" with an inseam of 32", what size Messenger or The Hour fit me?

Yes, just the messenger comes with brakes. (from what people say, they're the same)

THanks, that was really helpful. One last question before my purchase. When I am in doubt about size, I am torn between 54 and 56, is it safer to go for the smaller size?

All things considered, yes.

You can always adjust the seat to size up.

At least close. The geometry appears the same. But the messenger has front fender eyelets, and top tube brake cable guides while the Hour doesn't but does have rack mounts.

Also, the wheels are different. The messengers has name brand rims (Alex) while the hours appear generic. And the Hour has high flange hubs, to the messengers low flange.

but those are pretty subtle differences.
