I hate when people think that bikes should follow EXACTLY the laws of cars. I know we're supposed to, however, since we have such a low chance of killing someone, a lot is left up to a persons own feelings of what they feel is safe. If I blow a stop sign at a 4 way stop, who cares? I can clearly see if a car is coming on either end, and its my own risk to blow it, since I'm the one who is ****ed if another car blows the stop sign. Certain rules do have to be obeyed, however, passing a car on the left (like you should) and blowing a red are things that are not a huge deal to anyone besides yourself.

I try to follow the rules of the jungle when it comes to city riding. Whatever doesn't kill you is a good idea.

Bikes are somewhere between cars and pedestrians in how we manuever. Therefore, laws should reflect that. Laws need to specifically target each vehicle, not just say "bikes have to follow all laws that cars do" because that's just taking the easy way out for our legislative branch...

On the other hand, do you want the Oregon Legislature to be making the decision of which laws we should and shouldn't have? I sure don't...

no, city/county local level.

that way specific infrastructure can account for it.

of course, that's not the way dot works but we're not talking within the context of the current political environment. we're talking about should, as in ideally.

It would be nice, though I despair that it would ever happen. :( Sigh.
