Help me price my bike to sell[please?]

Hey.. I'm trying to sell my 2nd bike[my first conversion] and am not sure what to really price it at.
I'm not out to rip anyone off, but the sugino chain ring+cog+brand new weinmanns are all new and all the parts+frame equal about $250 but i put a good amount of time into cleaning up the frame[dirt;braze ons;derailleur hanger] and setting it up correctly. Perfect chainline, smooth ride, awesome bike, but I sadly have to part with it.
Thanks for your help.

I've found coversions are getting hard to sell. By now, most people who would have bought one built their own or bought an off the peg SS/FG.

Top dollar comes from the pars, you already know that. Part it out or if you can, keep it. I've regretted selling most of the bikes I've sold.

it might depend on your area. here in NYC, i feel like people would list a bike like that on craigslist for anywhere from $250-400. looks clean, nice job.

When I sold my first conversion (which wasn't as nice as yours) last year, I looked at CL listings for the Boston area and I concluded that most conversions went for around $150-200. I don't think you can expect to get compensated for your time and care in putting together a nice conversion, I mean, you might get lucky and find someone willing to pay a premium, but conversions don't really appreciate the way, say, vintage Colnagos do. I'd ask for $250, but who knows, maybe you'll find someone willing to pay more.

ive seen a few conversions around here priced in the 3-325 range, id say you could shoot for 300 and hope you get a bite.

I would pay upward of $100 for that lugged frame, assuming it's healthy.

frame alone?
I paid $10 from this guy who basically takes in old bikes and sells them in his yard. random 'luck' i guess, though it's just a low end Japanese steel lugged frame.

I guess I was wrong. $300 seems a fair ROI

What model is that Miyata? It's a 710 or better (higher numbers=better), it's a good frame. Even if it's a lower model, Miyata made good frames. If you hadn't taken the derailer hanger and cable guides off, you could probably get $100 for the frame and sell the rest of the parts individually for more than $300 total. As it is, it's kind of a neutered road bike and a very typical conversion with entry-level, machine-built wheels. If it has sentimental value, that might be worth more than the relatively small sum of money that you could get for it. Conversions aren't really worth much when you can get a complete for $300.

I don't mean to put your bike down, because I like it, but grinding off the derailer hanger and cable guides have made that frame useless as anything but a conversion, which are kind of unfashionable right now. It's definitely well above the quality of your typical craigslist conversion, though.

check the prices on eBay to see what people are paying these days for conversions.

If somebody is offering $300, I'd take it and run.

thanks, but when I went at it, I had no intention of ever converting it back or selling it and it's only a 100 so if nothing else, I trash it. But even as a 100, it's really nice-riding and solid.

Thanks for all the compliments. I may end up just keeping it and having 2 bikes at school.

Yeah, Miyatas are nice riders all throughout the range - solid bikes they are.

Usually you can't add up the cost of all the new parts you put on a frame, plus the price you paid for the frame, and arrive at its selling price. Maybe w/ high end parts and frame that will work, but usually the final selling price comes in somewhat lower than the input costs of a build-up, atmo.
