I Need Help!
I'm building up a fixie and all i have so far is the frame and fork. I need a headset and i'm not sure whether to buy a brand new one for 80$, or get one from ebay for 20$. I want my bike to look good but i'm kinda low on money. Should I wait and get a brand new one or does it really matter? Also, does anyone know any sites that sell headsets? THANKS!

eeeeeverywhere sells headsets
threaded or not....do you know the size
im sure you have a bike shop around that has a junk bin. I have a 5 dollar one on my conversion (I assume its not a track frame) and works fine. Make sure its greased up, get it done by a shop cause they have the right tools. If you dont have the money..dont spend it

- supercheap, don't care if it kind of sucks
- inexpensive
- inexpensive but new
- nice but not a chris king
- chris king
What is the goal? What is the budget?
Functionally, does new matter? Not really, assuming it is not pitted. Look locally. Headsets can go really cheap, and being able to save on shipping and inspect before buying are both big pluses.

i dont care if it's new as long as it functions properly, most of the parts on my bike are going to be new and i just don't want anything to fall apart in the near future. The one i've been looking at new is the IRD techno-glide which looks like a good headset, but im not sure if I need to spend 80$ if something else at a cheaper price will do the same exact thing. I don't really have a budget I just want to get the bike within the next few months because indiana weather sucks and it's going to be getting cold before i know it.
