I just bought a Classic Messenger in large. Where should it sit on my back? Also, I find the clip on reflective strips to be a little odd. Has anyone repurposed this area of the bag in any way?

yeah i wear mine as tight as i can but i rarely use it because i hate it, it's so uncomfortable and always slides around. My mom got it for me for my b-day, what're you gonna do right?

i wear mine the same way and yes, i also find it uncomfortable. once i get back to the states im switching to a chrome.

ive had them for about 12 years now and like them. ive found them durable and comfortable. put it where ever it functions best for you. im sure im very dumb but do the left/right specific bags mean that if the strap sits on my right shoulder thats a left handed bag or what?

i always wear mine up as high as possible. had the bag for 3 years now, shows virtually no signs of wear.

not sure what causes discomfort for some ... i bought the accessory shoulder strap and it was a huge relief.

and yes, the reflective strips pop right off.

also, for good measure, alternate the shoulder you wear it on to take it easier on your spine [:

I know the strips come off. I was wondering if anyone cut the strips off the buckles and used the buckles to make something else that clips onto the bag; like another set of straps for holding stuff on the outside.

I've had two over the years.
They're uncomfortable, they bulge out awkwardly with the tiniest load and they just don't sit on your back right.

Heavier items (books, laptop, etc.) need to be close to your back. The bag should be as high as possible without the straps being too tight.

They're more comfortable if you have a forward, more aggressive riding position.

The longer the trip, the less you can carry comfortably.

I find them more comfortable than ordinary backpacks.

I had a Timbuk2 for a while, and switched to a chrome. ****ing bag is amazing. I carry so much **** around town in it, it's 1000% more comfortable. The timbuk 2 slid around, never felt right, was painful. strap cut into my neck (didn't have the pad). Chrome has a big huge wide amazingly padded and comfy strap, the seatbelt is nice, one handed adjustment. Only thing about it I do not like is with the timbuk2 I had my laptop was nice and cozy and safe, but the chrome 1) has no support and 2) doesn't have any sort of laptop holder. Now I carry my laptop inside of a miniature laptop case inside of my chrome, which isn't too bad but kind of a pain in the ass.

But really, Timbuk2 does suck. Go with a chrome, or RELoad, or Seagull bag or something man. My chrome is my best investment so far I think, I don't have a car so making grocery runs with this thing is awesome. Plus my girl was here in town in Hawaii for a while last week and we packed it full of stuff to go all around the island like towels and changes of clothes. One day it was loaded with snorkel gear. Great bag.

The one thing I like abut the Timbuk2 over the Chrome is the ability to wear it on either shoulder. That, and it is less conspicuous without the garish buckle.

If you get the all black chrome, the buckle is anodized black.
