Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? i usually just wear vans eras which i like and hold up pretty well. i also saw the vans fixed gear shoe at DQM which are the same style but different material and 3m in the laces and all, they were pretty nice. chuck taylors are pretty good to ride with also, the thick rubber toe cap has all the protection youll need from toe clips.

90% of these shoes really blow. They're to floppy and/or lack a good tread to engage the pedal cage. If you want to use them get platforms. Otherwise take a pedal to rei or some other outdoor store and look for something with a nice row of lugs or crease that will grab onto the cage an position you're foot properly.

I have a pair of Sambas, Onitsukas and slip on Vans. They all work great (Onitsukas being the best), and I use them all equally.

I wear laceless van slip ons. I keep my soma cages pretty tight and my shoes just have enough clearance to slip in ( rides like clip-less when its just right . . I prefer laceless because I've had my shoe laces get caught in the drivetrain in the middle of traffic.

Any of the Adidas "Driving Shoes" work well, like the L2Gs.

Gola Chases work well too

I haven't faired too well with the Onitzuka Tigers. I find the soles way too flexible. I'll put them on if I'm just riding casually but for my commute, Chase is the way to go.

- 1 on the Vans, at least the Old Skools w/ the wavy stripe.

Footbed is too wide, with straps they can really get trapped in there (A couple of weeks back my Van got caught in the straps. I fell over in the street. In front of morning rush hour traffic. And a bus unloading all it's passengers. I felt like the town idiot).

+ 1 on the Sambas.

Just got the Gola track flats in yellow.
Solid sole and so shiny I think they might actually be waterproof too.

yeah anything with a stiff, smooth sole. if you have track pedals, bumpy soles can be annoying trying to get into your clips. gr9s or any platform pedal will work with anything. i ride asics, vans or pumas.

does any know what these shoes are? sorry about the dark pic, its the only pic i could find of them. seem like a good idea, slip ons+ protective rubber (?) layer protecting the area of canvas that come into contact with toe clips
