shoes for a fixie
Anyone have some suggestions for some shoes that are well suited for riding on a fixed gear? I am looking for with something I can ride with some toe clips, that has a soul that is hard enough and that also has a way to keep the laces out of the way.

everyone likes adidas sambas. they work great and fit really snug in mks toe clips. also if you go to kohls they are always on sale (along with levis 514 and 511 btw) for almost nothing. laces tuck into the sides really well and stay inside.

asics onitsuka tigers fit really well.. find shoes with firm bottoms.
+1 on slip ons. no pedals, firm, can be cheap and not have to worry about tearing them up.
search for it and you'll find a thread with a lot more.

A friend of mine is close with the local Vans rep, and showed up to my house wearing a (sample) pair of the Gabe Morford x Vans Syndicate slip-ons yesterday. They look class in person and the rubberized fabric seems like it would laugh off any sort of abuse steel toe clips could send its way. No reflective strip on the back, though, just a black strip/logo. (He didn't get his hands on one of those hip packs that are going to come with them, either.) Still, I'm sold and pretty stoked to get my hands on a pair from the local skate park in a month or three.
Slip-ons and Onitsukas (I like the Mexico 66's) are the generic response, but they've never done me wrong. Just avoid the generic slip-ons like the plague, especially the Payless Airwalk ones. Worst sole ever.
