i don't know what kind of crank i have, but i will get a new one (recommendations please). the chain ring has 52 teeth and the cog is has 17. one more thing..i want to upgrade my bottom bracket, but don't know what kind. again, help please. thanks by the way. i live in san jose (eastside area). let's ride fellow cyclists! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike001.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike002.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike003.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike004.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike005.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike006.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike007.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike008.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...7t/bike009.jpg |
What's the other brake lever for?
|
Well, I wouldn't upgrade anything. Adjust it to fit well, and ride it. Replace something when it brakes.
For some cash, sell the bar end shifters. And maybe get some bar tape. |
Move your stem down so the limit line is no longer showing.
|
I don't know what your budget is but I'd recommend sugino rd with a sugino bb or if you're really on a budget, people seem to get bulletproof cranks on a tight budget. But I wouldn't upgrade unless it is necessary.
And since you're from San Jose (I'm in the eastside of San Jose too) are you on sjfixed.org? If not sign up, we usually do a Tuesday night ride (unless you already knew that but if you don't know, now you know.) |

Free shipping and comes in a few colors. Looks great on older bikes IMO. |

^ you're right, I guess you replied before I edited my post. I was just giving a few suggestions should he upgrade.
|
thanks for the replies guys. i haven't had the time to go and remove that brake lever. how much would i get if i sold the bar end shifters?
|
Bar tape is my only immediate suggestion. Just ride the **** out of it and replace stuff when it breaks. I dig the bike. Good pick up.
|
With some decent photos you might get $40 for the bar-end shifters depending on the brand that they are.
As someone said, lower your stem, you are going to crack your frame or the stem with it at that height, both options are bad. |
Or buy a stem that fits. Nitto Technomic can give you more height.
I know a lot of the track-style bikes on this forum have low bars, but I am going to assume that your bars are at that height because you like them at that height. Buy a stem that gives you the fit you want without risking your bike or body. |
