I don't see any reason why these wheels wouldn't be strong if tensioned properly, but replacing a head out spoke if one breaks is going to be a hassle. And it's butt ugly, but that's been covered already.

I am not digging myself into a hole. I had them built for me. I don't care what you think of me, but i do care if the wheels are now dangerous. If true, I will then take them back to the builder and ask for a refund.

build three cross it is plenty strong enough for anything 36H 3 cross would be perfect I think they look cool but that lacing is not necessary and as already stated the spokes shouldnt be bent like that.

As to why they probably won't be safe/durable, see how each spoke must bend around the next spoke? The spokes are tensioned quite high, thus that spoke tension is being put to use at that bend to put a shear force at the J bend of the next spoke. The J bend, being the most stressed part, should definitely NOT be put through this extra stress.

your flanges are to too high for a 4 cross application.. do 3x and call it a day... also what's your hole count?
