Jamis Sputnik vs. Fuji Track

Am looking for my first fixed-gear bike and am considering the Jamis Sputnik vs. the Fuji Track. Will mostly be using the bike for fitness, but love the idea of one day taking it to a track. Any thoughts on these two bikes and how they compare?

Fuji Track is the same as The Hour. Plus The Hour is a lot cheaper. Really - same bike.

Jamis Sputnik has a nice carbon fork, good geometry but in that price range there are other options as well. I too looked at the Sputnik and nearly bought it.

Get The Hour and upgrade some parts on it. Ride it into the ground.

I have a coworker who has a sputnik. He likes it. He mainly uses it to commute - 7 miles each way or so. He graduated to it from a mid 80's conversion. If you have a specific question I could ask him.......

I guess it really depends on your budget.
The Jamis is all around a better bike. Lighter bike, better steel tubing, better components, etc.

On the other hand, the FUJI is the kind of bike where you can lock it up on the street and walk away from it for a few hours without any real worries. (as long as you lock the bike up the right way)

no.

a thief will steal ANYTHING in the right situation. other than that, yes. the jamis is the better bike by a wide margin.
