They're good with toe clips because of the rubber toe cap. They're a bit flexy at times, so they're not the best for long distances. If you don't buy slip-ons make sure to keep the laces away from your cranks.

io have some- as stated before, i love the no laces for ease with clips, but they are serioulsy lacking in sole stiffness- i am considering outfitting my old pair with a steel shank the length and shape of the shoe, with an spd cleat attached, but recessed into the sole

i ride in chuck taylors., as stated, flexy, so hot spots after about 30 miles or so, or less if big hills. they go in and out of toe clips real spooth, a stick to the pedals well. I might try going to rei or something, for some super stiff insoles.

lol i don't know, i have a pair of jack parcels and the constant pedaling slightly moves your toes deeper into the rubber area and that always hurts. other than that any shoes are fine i think

MKS GR-9 pedals seem like a good route to go for a softer-soled shoe.

Summer= Keen's
Winter= Whatever shoe I decide to wear. It's usually between Onitsuka Tigers (not the really thin ones), Saucony Jazz, or even Vans monochrome slip-ons with Smartwool socks.

They're way too flexy, besides after Nike bought out Converse and exported the American factories, I don't give a sheehawt about 'em any more.
