I remember those.
They had a very dark grey sole instead of the gum rubber color traditionally used.

They are limited........Well so Vans tells us. You have to find a Vans "Vault" dealer. Not just any store that carries Vans is a vault dealer. Hence they only distribute Vault releases to Vault account holders. I'm pretty sure they've done nothing to the shoe it's just a regular ass era with a seat fanny pack.

Right, they are limited -- limited to the number they're able to sell.

Vans is a company. It is singular. "Make" is not.

grammar 101.

Depends on where you studied grammar. If you studied English in England you would have learned that a company is an organization of more than one person, and as such, can be considered plural, and that "make" would be the correct word.

You could say "Vans are making a new fixed gear shoe.", or "Vans make a fixed gear shoe". According to my Oxford dictionary of English grammar, both of these are correct sentences.

Sarcasm doesn't travel well on the internet either. My reference to limited..... was actually sarcasm. Don't worry this isn't over, Nike 6.0 is about to hop on the band wagon aswell.

deathhare 08-07-08 07:09 AM

Well, Nike is a lamer company than Vans could ever dream of becoming so I'm sure Nike will win this stupider-shoe war

I was really hoping that these would be for use with clipless pedals. Oh well...

sweatpants 08-07-08 09:38 AM

eh. I'm not feeling the look. I'd rather get two $40 pair of non-wack looking shoes that I'd feel good about wearing off the bike as well. They look cheap to me. However, I can I guess appreciate the fact that they tried.

sential 08-07-08 10:51 AM

i wear my canvas Vans Era's everyday, it's not like the canvas wears out on them... My biggest gripe is all the black marks I get from toe overlap.

I guess the reflective bits are a nice "idea", but I think if they would have put the reflective stuff in white laces it would have looked better. Maybe make the back logo reflective as well.

The canvas on Eras definitely wears out much more quickly than any other non canvas shoe I've had... the only downside to an otherwise great shoe. I love them but I'm tired of how quickly they wear out, so I bought some of these.

I do.

The reflective laces strike me as a particularly pointless feature. With the placement and size, I can't really see the adding any significant ammount of visibility (on a bike, anyhow. Perhaps it is for in the bar as yet another reminder to everyone that "Yeah, I rode my bike here.")

shants 08-07-08 12:05 PM

Those shoes are hideous.

matic 08-07-08 02:11 PM

these are pretty much sold out every where. at least in the black/raven colorway. they've been out for a while now. and like mentioned before you're not gonna find these just any where, only at select VAULT accounts. VAULT is a line using different materials from the traditional simple vans classics

But do you really want to be forced to buy a janky Vans one just cause you want a pair of shoes that you cant get without paying for the saddle bag too?
What if you really like the shoes and in a short while you want to buy another pair. Well, you have to pay for yet another saddle bag.
Its just a dumb way to do business and it isnt like you get the saddle bag for free. These shoes are more the double price.
People buy saddle bags and people buy shoes and never the twain shall meet.
When you buy a saddle bag you dont expect to have to pay for a pair of shoes too. :crash:

They have them in slip-ons too. Called slip-on Lx (fixed). Check Vans vault website. vault.vans.com

What shoes are those?
They look comfy.
And resemble simple shoes.
