Hubs vs Hubsets

why is it cheaper to buy hubs seperately? for example, i can find a DA 7600 for 79 front and 89 rear, but the hubset is like 250?? and the miche hubset is like 130 to 140 but i can find them seperately for 50 front and 60 rear. any reason for this?

I don't know the answer to your question, but that seems like a good thing to me because theres no reason to buy hubs in pairs. Generally the front hub that I want for a particular wheel build is not the same as the rear. For instance, I will often use a road hub in front, because they are lighter, cheaper, and just as reliable. Track front hubs are pointless.

yeah it works out better that way but if you still want to match then go for it. When I built my wheels up i noticed they were that way and just purchased them separately. Im happy with my miche hubs by the way:love:

i'd say surly hubs, front and rear for $68 is a good way to go

Wow, you actually posted something correct

Except most tracks won't allow you to ride with eye poker outers, err, quick release levers. Or so I've heard, mine's under construction

that logic doesn't hold true for cheaper hubs / hubsets.
