I see the same thing here. There was one kid who had a gorgeous cannondale road with downtube shifters and flat bars so narrow it looked like he couldn't fit his hands between the brakes and the ends of his bars.
|
Ha.. at least he had room for brakes :-)
|
so i'm assuming the reason someone would do that is to look cool?
b/c if it's to weave in and out of traffic, their body is wider than the handlebars... right? |

Maybe that person on has one really big hand and likes to ride while holding onto the stem

I dont know, there are some pretty little dudes in tokyo.

its often the gap between mirrors where the handle bars are, so it doesn't matter about the width of the rider's shoulders, as this is not going through the same width gap
|
Nice pisto

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5509/ts3k0012si7.jpg what are you doing in tokyo... just having a blast riding bikes all day? |
Quit stalking us or else we will start going to the states and snap pictures of random conversions:p

Some clueless hipster on an FG with bars like that almost hit me. He was climbing a bridge, swerving violently. I was descending (at a moderate speed) and had to panic stop (almost endo'ed).
It could be an isolated incident, but I think bars that narrow might present a safety hazard. |
Drued - Your photos are a sick. Do you shoot for COG? I could swear I've seen your work in there.
|
yea his pics of the Tokyo Alleycat are from the 1st issue of Cog.
|
lol..that lock for that bike..hah
|
what is that clear thing strapped to his fork?
I've seen it on fixies before but don't know what its purpose is. |

Yes I have shot for COG. I did the "Tokyo Pisto Explosion" article. Well the shots anyway. It is weird how many track bikes are in Tokyo these days. Back when I started riding a fixed there were next to none in the City. Now a 5 minute walk in Shibuya you may see up to 20. I should shoot an article something along the lines of "10 minutes in Tokyo" drue. |
thank you:thumb:

Semi OT but google maps has a complete street view for tokyo. if you doods are amazed by the colors of tokyos bigger shopping districts and odaiba, but are too poor to go there, messing around with it is good. no nighttime shots though, so you won't get to experience those breathtaking color-gasms of the huge shopping coridors in street view-o-rama.

Hey drue, i know you.
We got a 100 page thread for this that is filled with tokyo tarck action. Please add to it :) http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=260233 |
