Does anyone know of a store online I can order EAI cogs?
I have checked 3 or 4 places and everyone is out of stock with no estimate on when they will get more.
This shortage seems to apply to certain sizes in 1/8".

I am trying to get the deluxe (cheaper one) in 17 teeth for an 1/8" chain.

Alternatively I can get a surly or more expensive EAI but I want to try and save some money. And although I could wait for them to be re-stocked, I don't think my knees can wait that long.

I have been running 48 x 15 and let me tell you that is pretty tall for the hills around here and my knee health. Plus I want to be able to cut a chain to use both a 17 t fixed cog and my 18 tooth freewheel on a formula flip flop hub, keeping the 48 tooth front chainring.

Any ideas, suggestions? Other cogs that people might suggest? Will I be able to run an 18 t freewheel and a 17 t fixed cog?

The LBs can get Surly or Rockworks (sp ?) in that size.
I have heard of Surly but not rockworks.

I really wish dura-ace came in 17t. Do you hear me Shimano?

Anyone know if either the EAI, Milwaukee, or Surly would give me the same chainline as the Dura-Ace?
I am certainly no mechanic and want to make sure I get the same quality and chainline I get with what I currently have. I would stick with what I know but of course I can't get the size I want.

AMF did OK way back with some quality stuff. They weren't exactly small, I know, but some of their brands were quite acceptable. I especially liked the T-shirts back in the 70s that had the AMF/Head logo on them and said Give me Head.

i heard eai has been out for a while. i was looking for the same exact cog.

A cog is a cog is a cog. Surly, Soma, Rockwerks, DuraAce, Bens, IRO, EAI..any of these will do the trick. Buy whichever is cheapest. You won't notice the difference.

Surly are just rebranded, cheap ass Grunge cogs...or the other way around. Either way, depending on the packaging, you could save a lot of money or waste a lot of money.
Whatever you do youll have a mediocre cog.

just get it in 3/32 and call it a day.

i was in the same situation a few weeks ago. my lbs (business cycles) was out of the eai deluxe 17t (1/8") and he said that eai was completely out of them as well.

i ended up going w/ the milwaukee 17t. so far, its great!

eai is having all production efforts focus on the superstar for the olympics they will resume normal production after olympics
