Chicago LBS's

I'm going to be in Chicago over Labor Day weekend, and I was curious of anyone knew of some nice bike shops the city has to offer? I've looked online, but I was wondering if anyone with first-person experience could suggest a place or two?

Thank ya's...

look in the resource thread. There is only one, ok maybe three or four.

edit: Depends on what you want. Lots of shops serve different needs.

Stay away from village cycle; they suck.
Cycle Smithy has a few fixed / single speed riders working there, and a nice display of some old track bikes not for sale, and a case full of super pretty track components.
Lickton's is not worth a trip since they are primarily mail order so there's not much to look at.
There's a Performance and they have a wide range of items, some track bikes, and all that other cheap stuff that a Performance carries.
Yojimbo's is a great shop, but not really the kind of place you can just look around, since it's small and independent; they sort of expect you to pick things, pay and get out so they can lock the door and get back to work.

good thread, i was just in chi town, (my home town love it)

Yojimbo's is the bomb. you gotta see how much bike stuff can fit into a smallish space.

cycle smithy guys are cool. and the collection of rare/old bikes is def worth the visit.

smart bike parts, and irvs are great. although irvs doesn't really specialize in fixed/ss, they have a great and friendly staff.

I like Johnny Sprockets. Nice guys, good selection, on the corner or Broadway and Wellington (I think it's Wellington... maybe it's Oakdale?)

I heard Yojimbo's was appointment only so I didn't stop in... I was right by there though.

+1 on Irv's. Best prices in town on cheap stuff (tubes, pumps, lights, sprockets, etc.) and repairs. They're my LBS, for sure.

Check out the Handlebar if you're looking for a good bar while you're here.
