ss conversion..
Hi,
I have a 7sp rear and double chainring on a Pinarello cyclocross. I'm considering converting this to either singlespeed or fixed gear. Could you guys please point me in the right direction. Any advise would be great. Thanks in advance. Matt |

I think we need one definitive sticky thread for this since this comes up so often.

Matt JensonUSA has a complete kit http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product.aspx?i=CS611B00 Or you can just get the spacers http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product.aspx?i=CS701Z00 Or just bust up a couple of old cassettes. |

if it has vertical dropouts i say wait for a more appropriate frame. surly singulators or other tensioning devices just arent the same as having horizontal drops.

legalize_it apparently hasn't seen the rather expensive but all too effective Eric's Eccentric rear hub from White Industries. It's also mentioned and recommended on Sheldon Brown's site. :)
|
actually i have seen the eccentric hub, i just think that using a frame that allows adjustment is a better solution than buying some fancy pants hub that offers less adjustment. you can get a frame for the same price of that hub, sometimes for less

But if you already have a frame with vert drops and need a hub, it makes sense :)
