Buying an Angus Build-- need help.
OK. I've been scouring this site for quite some time and, because the budget kilo tt is not in my size on BD (someone let me know if they're going to get another shipment), I've decided to get an IRO Angus build. It just seems like the quality for the price and overall integrity is just worth it.
I don't have the tools to build a bike on my own, or the skills for that matter, and I don't want to get charged up the arse at my lbs.
So, I'm at the configuration page for my Angus build and I need help with the following options:
Crank: what size should I get (165mm or 170mm)
Cog: 14 tooth to 18 tooth
Has anyone got the flat IRO handlebars instead of the drops?
Also, if anyone wants to talk me out of getting the Angus, here's your chance. IMO, the tubing is better than the Mark V, the fork is threaded. That's a plus. The parts seem a bit more solid compared to a budget Windsor from BD (which is a great bike don't get me wrong).
Anyways, thanks in advanced for all your help. I'm pretty excited to join the FG community.

165mm cranks are more ideal for tight cornering clearance, and the cog depends on what gear ratio you want to ride.

thanks for getting back to me imoscar:
i don't know much about gear ratios. i live in austin and the area where i'll be riding will be relatively flat, but we do have our set of hills. i do want to be able to go fast however, and be able to keep up with 20-30mph traffic (light to light).
thanks in advanced again.

If you're going to be riding platform pedals, I would go with 165s. If clipless, 170. I have never come close to striking on my Angus with 170s and ATACs.
Cog-wise, I would go with 17t (so you don't have too few skid patches with the 46t ring). Also, if you find that too low after a while, you can then get a dura-ace 15 tooth (they only go up to 16, but are a great deal).
They're great bikes. i have dreams of upgrading the fork to a threadless one, but I have no other beefs with mine in the two years I've had it.
