I rode by one of those LED signs that tell drivers how fast they're going and it told me I was doing 25mph. Flat and I'd pretty much spun out on my freewheel. Other than that I have no idea.

i hit 26 sprinting on a flat the other day on my 42x17, 64.9 gear inches. There was def a tailwind, but it wasn't crazy. Downhill on the same gearing I've done ~32 (and kept in control).
I've definitely done faster on both but just recently got a bike computer and haven't tried sprinting and I no longer live near hills (I lived in VT, now I live in DE) |
I doubt anyone here is going over 30 mph on the street [flat street anyway]
|
I've hit light speed once or twice.

something around 32 or 33 mph. 42x17 on 700x23's. I feel like I could spin a little faster, but I certainly couldn't hold it for very long.

edit: most men at least. |
Hmm... I don't know cause I don't have a computer on my fixed-gear bike. Why would I?
The only thing that matters is it gets me from home to work in under 15 minutes, or faster than any other form of transportation. |

31 mph on flat ground running 48/17, higher than that on a velodrome with different gearing and faster still going down a long hill.
