Thanks again all for the help. Going to the shop tomorrow to measure hubs and figure out spoke lengths. We have a spoke calculator and "sticks".

Unfortunately, no online calc or database has either my rims or my hubs (WTB Dual Duty XC rims and Formula FH50 and FH 51).

Finally got spoke length calculated! 191! horray. now to order spokes! Sapam $8 spokes here I come...not.

DT Swiss Champion ftw.

It's getting there. I'll post when I'm done, but everyone who said it's doable is right.

It was intimidating at first, but let's see how lacing goes. I love laced things! Drugs, drinks, whatever!

Why would you willingly build with straight gauge spokes? Are you cheap, or ignorant?

malpag3 09-02-08 05:40 PM

Oh, they're butted. I'm building with a friend who is ordering them. Maybe we didn't decide on the straight gauges.

That said, I'm about 126lbs, I ride on my 99 Kona Kapu with straight gauge spokes and I've never had a problem. I hop curbs, bunny hop glass, and sometimes hit potholes.

I am cheap.

Even so, better ride quality and lighter weight with DB...
