Decent saddles for $40 or under.
Any suggestions.
|
One that feels good under your ass?
Seriously, you have to try out some different ones to find the best shape for your bottom. Personally i would look at some kind of hard plastic saddle, I hate gel *****. |
San Marco Rolls for only $35. They're out of stock right now but they restock often. I got mine from this site:

Performance Bike Forte saddles are sometimes pretty good for under $40. The older Fusion model is great but they don't sell them anymore. The newer Forte RS1 appears to be the next closest thing and an imitation of the Fizik Airone.

I got a Selle Trans Am on ebay for $30, so far no complaints....

syn leather, bummer.
|
Why? They didn't kill anything to make an ugly saddle?
|
Pricepoint sells saddles, under the Sette brand, that are exactly the same as the Performance Forte saddles, but cheaper still..between $25-$35. I have both of these...they are very light and comfortable.

Performance Forte SLX will need a coupon to get it under $40

I heard good things about the Ritchey Comp Streem. They go for $25-40.

CCM Pro makes a decent knockoff of the Selle Italia Royale seat. NYCbikes.com sells them for $12 a pop. I've bought two, ridden on one for a good 50 miles or so and i find it pretty comfy.

i've scooped up some REALLY NICE saddles from the "used" bin at the lbs. $10-$15 each. all from new bike pulls.
|
You probably won't find much. Just keep an eye on craig's list and ebay for the names "Fizik" and "Selle Italia" and "Brooks". Even then, you may not get it for 40, but your ass will thank you for it after long rides.
Oh, and, if you are not taking long rides, why are you looking for a saddle? Go get a free one from you LBS's junk bin. |
Just keep an allen wrench in your pocket and you can have whatever saddle you want for free.

Did you read deeper? They clearly state the prices are not always up to current differences. Google says 25 pounds is about $43. Plus probikekit says they will charge your card in pounds (almost always an additional fee), plus shipping, plus waiting for it to come from thousands of miles away needlessly, plus the fact that it's not even in stock.
To save a measly few dollars. |
Last time I ordered from Probikekit I'm pretty sure there was free shipping. They have great prices!

Recently I tried a Forte Contour, if you want something very comfortable, or have a more upright style. It's not very racy looking, but it is plush. I put it on two bikes: touring, and a bike with upright bars. That saddle was also marked down below $40. I saw some WTB gel saddles at REI today, on sale, for <$40. Actually I think there were normally $39, then 20% off. They looked very comfortable and I've been impressed with their designs. |
