Need Silver Flip/Flop Wheelset (non-deep Vs)
I've been looking for a wheelset with flip/flop rear, but most of what I've found on the market are in black or are deep Vs. I prefer just a regular classic-looking wheelset in silver. I prefer to not go the wheel-building route yet, if possible. Does anyone have suggestions of where I can find a decent silver wheelset for less than, say, $300?
Thank you for any help. |
bikeisland.com
cheap-ass silver alloy "track" wheels for like ~$120 or so. no one will drool over them, but round is round. |
go to you lbs and ask if they distribute QBP, I bought my rear wheel over there, formula hub, dt champion spoke and a velocity aero (realy nice rim). Wheel cost me like 150$, jsut a thing i recommand to check the spoke after a couple a good rides cause on mine the spoke got all looss so i jsut had to basicly rebuild my wheel.

Thank you everybody! |
Nice - that's $10 less shipped than Mavic CXP 22 Silver with Formula Sealed Bearing Track Hubs 32H Fix/Free on those wheels.
However they ship with non-butted 1.8mm(15 gauge) spokes vs 2mm(14 gauge) spokes. That a big difference in durability? Looks like it shaves 4.3oz off the wheelset. |
Let me know if that doesn't work out. I've got some alexrims with a flip flop hub that I've been looking to get rid of.

none of that ^. Get the Mavic wheelset, i had the black ones on my soma and they're amazing. Honestly for the price they're probably one of the best wheelsets out there.

I guess I do too. I can't hold it against you.

Ordered a set from www.bicyclewheelwharehouse.com for $140 shipped to my front door. Has anyone ordered from this company? I am now wondering if they (this website) are legit because my Safari filter doesn't recognize their website and says the website is non-secure. I went ahead and ordered from the site anyway because I like to live on the edge.

i ordered from them and got them in a reasonable amount of time. everything went smooth

Here is the question: I'm converting from 27s. Which should I get?
Mavics on Sale, but I need to get Tires and tubes, which I don't have. http://www.bicyclewheelwarehouse.com...d&productId=51 or with tires and tubes for less: http://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_S...ils&ProdID=548 |
i ride cxp22's laced to 32H formulas and like 'em.

CXP22's were nicely packaged along with free rim tape... woot! http://www.bicyclewheelwarehouse.com...d&productId=50 somegeek |
The Mavic Open Sport rim is another good choice for those on a budget. I got those with Formula hubs and Sapim spokes on my wife's SS.
Velocity Aerohead rim is much stronger than the older Aero rim. For those that want to keep 27" wheels on their older conversions, Sun and Velocity make great rims in that size. The Sun CR-18's are very shiny, a good retro look. |
