Does anyone ride two brands/types of rubber?
i'm thinking about buying something more expensive in the front, and cheaper in the back because of all the tarck standz. is this blasphemy?

More expensive? Price really shouldn't dictate your decision.
I would put a more heavy duty rub on the back. But it shouldn't matter much anyway because you should be rotating your tires.

i have a gatorskin in front and a vredestein in rear because i bought them at different times. the vredestein is wearing out a lot faster than i hoped. i buy my tires one at a time because i put the front one on the rear when it wears out and buy a new front tire. i've yet to have matching ones.

there's really no reason to rotate your tires— SB wrote a good article on this a while back. especially on a fixed it makes sense to run a durable tire in the rear, and a grippier/softer one up front. some choose to use different widths as well.
personally i like a (wider) gatorskin in the rear, and i've been satisfied with rubino pro slicks, and diamante pro lights as front tires.

My current set up consists of a Conti GP4000s 23c up front and a 28c Rando out back.
I dont think its a bad thing to have different tires, especially if you're skidding. Having a tire with some meat in the back makes alot more sense unless you have a ton of cash to throw around.
