bars are for chumps
real men use stems, for maximum leverage |
Bullhorns basically simulate riding on the hoods of drops. I had some nice expensive Cinelli criterion drops on my bike.. they were so uncomfortable to ride without hoods, so they were discarded for my flop and chops. |
Chopped and flipped bullhorns.
Most of my riding on my fixie is short trips around seem decent hills so the horns suit me fine. Little simpler than drops, and I don't have to run a dummy brakehood on one side to get that hand position. I do miss the drops occasionally when the wind picks up or when I want to stretch out, but I like the simplicity of the horns... |
Hi,
I used to be a flat bar type, but I recently got myself introduced to the goodness of drops. Now I think about it, I was never able to skid or skip with a flat bar of any type ... naturally. I kinda had to force it hard. Now skidding feels fairly easy to do now. T |

ive tried risers, but i found drops to be the most comfortable for me. not too sure about bullhorns.

Bull horn bars. I prefer to call them "pursuit style bars" 'cause I'm classy like that.

So, a shorter lever provides more leverage???
My wife always tells me, "It's not the size of the lever, it's how you use it that counts." :P |
i have drops on my peugeot which are alright
but my everyday rider has bullhorns which i like for climbing but risers if you wanna do barspins ! |
Flipped and chopped because I had a set of drops and a hacksaw. I put two and two together.
|
nice wide risers. 22" perfect for work. easy to carry boxes on em, keeps the lungs open, comfortable for climbing, fine in traffic (pulling up for your bars to clear a mirror is an art form)
|
Drops so that I can catch less wind.
|
To climb on drops is just as good as Bullhorns IMO.
|
Bullhorns are the best of all worlds
Multiple hand positions, good climbing ability, if you work on your bike you can handlebar boxes easily, they don't get in the way if you sit down on your top tube (drops hit your knees when getting back into the saddle) Unless you are going long distances or doing tricks, bullhorns are the most efficient style |
North Road bars! With reverse brakes you still have some nice position options.
All right, I'm not planning on doing bar spins. It's a commuter, basically. In the "scene" I probably look a dork but the single-speed thing impresses the hell out of my fashion-backward co-workers. :) |

:P if its big enough you dont have to work... yes, smaller lever, more leverageness. did you not take "fsiks" in hi skool? (aka, sarcasm) |
