The majority of them yes, the only one I didn't feel like he was trying to be part of the scene is the guy with that ratty green mountain bike. He really seemed like he was struggling and was trying hard to survive not to fit in but to pay rent and eat.

I am embarrassed to watch this. Seriously, it is a job, nothing more.

"It's really cool to be part of something that's not mainstream."

Generic hipster talk, sorry.

Also, the Charlie "Lightning" guy needs to get punched in the face.

Interesting show. Thanks for the link.

jaysilent 09-22-08 09:50 AM

Just an observation, but this post seems a bit redundant, don't you think? You say you hate all the MASH and poseurs and like, yet you wish you were hanging like the real people in the video?

And before you go hating on me, I was a messenger for a little while and I have the utmost respect for them as it's a tough job with crappy pay. I just happened to luck out and get a job paying $14/hour instead of the $30+ I was getting per day.

And I'm not hating on MASH or anyone else either. I could care less what you do or who you want to be or what you think of me.

Just sayin...

jaysilent 09-22-08 12:09 PM

nah i didn't say that, you did.

and I got nothing with giving up what I want for $$, so that's on you, I'll be back at work tomm or next after this flu

luck is what i got, you got a wage

can't see the diff between a human interest peice and Mash posing, ****ing easy to see for me, aint no human interest in mash cept a mirror mixed with a tv mixed with a pose

Guvna 09-22-08 12:11 PM

Is that the narrator from Unsolved Mysteries?
Whatever. There are tons of jobs that are hard and dangerous. This is just the one that makes you cool with some people.

jaysilent 09-22-08 12:13 PM

yeah its a series too, comedians, cops, firefighters, bodybuilders etc

whatever fits on you, if you lucky you'll get older and it wont

malpag3 09-22-08 12:37 PM

Yeah, I thought it's a good watch. I always like watching these things when I'm stuck behind a desk.

Honestly, of course there are people who say stereotypical things. It's in every work place. Messengers in places that have more than two seasons deserve a lot of respect.

Honestly, I'm considering going into lurk mode as well. There are a lot of judgmental pricks here who do not know when to stop their constant diarrhea mouth.

andrewro 09-22-08 12:58 PM

Does anybody know whether the "tribe" being featured gets $$ from such a program? I mean, it's kind of in between a documentary and a reality program. Sort of a "Dramamentary" if you will. I seriously doubt these people sit around talking about their "tribe" or about securing status in their "tribe," or moving up in their "tribe," or about badges of honor in their "tribe" when they aren't being filmed.

I am not going to call them sell-outs as I suspect some people may - I hope they were compensated for being featured on someone else's television series.

I enjoyed watching the video but I thought the producer-imposed "tribe" stuff was a little silly.
